Maintenance
To keep your board in great condition and use it for years, you need to maintain it properly.
Avoid prolonged
water contact
Any wood will warp or split if exposed for moisture for extended period of time.
While small amount of wetting is expected (and countered with conditioner), avoid leaving your cutting board wet. Also, don't put it in dishwasher.

Cleaning
Don't use bleach or any other strong detergents - it will discolor your board beyond reparation.

To clean your board:
-
use warm water with a little of mild soap.
-
wipe the surface with a rag
-
dry with a towel.

To deodorize your cutting board:
-
mix one part water and one part 5% white vinegar.
-
apply the solution with a clean rag
-
leave for 5 minutes
-
wash the board according to the instruction above.
Conditioning
Board needs to be reconditioned periodically with a conditioning agent (learn more about different conditioning options).

Apply coconut oil + beeswax paste with a rag. Make sure to cover the board on both sides and the edges. Leave it for 5-10 minutes. Wipe dry with a clean rag.

Small scratches
All my boards except ones finished with only pure beeswax can be sanded to eliminate minor scratches.
-
before sanding, clean and dry the board.
-
use 300+ sandpaper. Sand along the grain until the scratch disappears.
-
rinse dust with water, dry with a towel, and leave to dry thoroughly.
-
recondition the board using your favorite conditioner. I recommend Stardust Forge Board Conditioner.
